Re-energized...Feeling Fantastic

I don't if I am feeling energized because I just witnessed one of the most beautiful wedding ceremonies with my friend Arti; if I'm feeling energized because my friend Kisha is coming to visit; if the energy came as a result of the cheesy play I saw with Ka'Neda last night; the revitalization was sourced from getting back into the gym; excitement about being in DC for a month block without traveling; or, because of an AWESOME conversation I had yesterday with an analyst named David Riley. In any event, I woke up feeling great!

The conversation with David with exhilarating. To encounter someone who has an opposing viewpoint, who is willing to articulate it, and not just for the purpose of 'building consensus' was fantastic! I walked away from the convo ready to tackle my projects at Grameen with renewed passion, I had doubt in my mind about the power of micro-lending, and the conversation also solidified some of my existing findings of being at the non-profit. It was wonderful. This is the type of working environment that gets my blood rushing, my brain focused, and permits me to work at my best.

I've been traveling between DC and LA a lot since this assignment began and I am excited to settle in for a month. It means that I was able to comfortably go see the play Legacy of Light with Ka'Neda. Oh, the play writing was laughably bad -- cheesy lines, monologues attempting to interweave the physical sciences into a play with time travel elements. The actors stumbled over their lines several times. Nonetheless, it was a good time because the tickets were half off (thanks to goldstar) and I got to spend time with Ka'Neda! And tonight, Kisha comes for a fun-filled weekend. With one week missed at the gym, already I can feel how much my energy has drained. The new, fancy body machine said told me my body age was 41 and I could hardly work the StairMaster for 5 minutes! All of these elements combined means that I have scheduled loads of fun for the next several weeks that includes re-devoting time to the gym. In all ways, I REALLY plan to enjoy my time here in DC.

Lastly, the joy in my heart that came from seeing my friend get married is breath-taking. The smile across her face the entire, long day, brings tears to my eyes even in this moment of writing. To share this with other friends from from work, especially during these turbulent times of change, is a memory no money could buy. To paraphrase from the play last night.... love is like light, it has no mass, yet through its many colors has the power to heat us, and when thrust upon us has the power to disorient us. I saw love in its many colors this past weekend, and it is truly a gift from a power higher than I.
