I was playing around on facebook and came across a group that is encouraging people to read 50 books within 365 days. I like to read, so I liked the idea. I signed up and wrote down the books that I have already read starting in April. Unfortunately, to read 50 books in a single year means basically reading a book a week. I am not on track to get through that much reading. Besides, some of the books that I am reading are 600 pages. Yikes! There's no way that I can get through 50 books in 365, and keep my job. Nonetheless, I like the idea of a stretch goal. So, here I go!
1- Caribbean, by James Michener
2- The Right Questions, Debbie Ford
3- In the Parish of the Poor, Aristide
4- Time Traveler's Wife, Audrey Niffenegger
5- A Mercy, by Toni Morrison
6- Farming of Bones, Edwidge Danticat
7- The Black Jacobins: Toussaint L'Ouverture and the San Domingo Revolution, C.L.R. James
In Progress
8- Eyewitness to America: 500 Years of American History in the Words of Those Who Saw it Happen, by David Colbert
9- Security Analysis: 1934 edition, Benjamin Graham & David Dodd
Next Up
10- Small Loans, Big Dreams by Alex Counts
Already interspersed on this blog are some of the books that I have found interesting. Hopefully, I'll be able to include more on future blogs.
