ONCE UPON A TIME

"I spent most of my life in a prison of my own making, trapped behind bars of fear, expectations and the opinions of others." -- John Hart

Once upon a time,
Back in time,
There was a time,
One time,
A time, a long time ago,
Time had no boundaries.

Back in that time,
There was no fear,
Hope rang eternal,
Even in the face of darkness.

There was a time,
When being genuine,
Openness, telling the truth,
Were all one-in-the-same.

One time,
Glass shattered,
Tears were shed,
And expectations developed.

A time, a long time ago,
The walls went up,
Fear of feeling became a constant companion,
The heart went out of business.

Time developed boundaries,
Tears overflowed the ducts,
Like tidal waves in a storm,
The soul became trapped.

That once upon a time,
Turned to all of the time,
With shattered memories of hope,
Laughter replaced genuine happiness.

In the current time,
A determination developed,
To find the key to the cell,
And let the sunlight in.

So that the one time,
Doesn't remain the only time,
That the sun evaporates the water
And allows the heart to lift and blossom with love.
