Being a kid is all about fun, You're able to play and able to run. Parents have to pay the bills, Kids just play video games and count kills.
Every day that you leave your house, You meet new people, maybe even a pet mouse. But having so many people in your life, One could view as causing grief. Because having so many friends, Means at some point we'll experience sadness, when a life comes to an end.
Yet, my family often reminded me that the soul lives on, And that I shouldn't shed tears when that loved one's memory lives on. Nonetheless, I'd have a sad face, Wishing I could've celebrated one more year with some cake. I'd be sad, And sometimes mad, Thinking about the fun times we'd failed to have.
But rather than weep and sob, I'd spend time in prayer and then I'd resolve, To cherish those who I have in my life, Not take them for granted or spend too much time feeling spite. Remember that every day I am here is a blessing, Let my heart leap and my mouth sing. For everyday that I fail in grieving, The kid in me is praising my friend's memory by achieving, Another level of love and friendship, And teaching others around me about the beauty of kinship. |
