I ain't no gerbil

I woke up today feeling really positive. I don't know if it was the fresh air, the sight of shiny green leaves starting to grow on the trees, or just a light from within that caused the positivity. Regardless of the reason, the immense feeling of joy made me think of my friend Kisha. She consistently is like a ray of sunshine when she enters a room and makes everyone around her feel good. She has an awareness and sensitivity to others that is amazing, and I immeadiately wished that she could feel as good as I feel about the day.

I left the apartment late, and it was dizzling outside: just enough rain to give the trees a shine and to clean off the roads. With that walk, I decided I would be determined to maintain that sense of positivity throughout the day.

When I walked into GF, I saw my friend Preeti limping through the halls. She was one of the people who did the 10-mile Cherry Blossom run on Sunday. I smiled at her and said, "I can't understand why you people run. It's so bad for your health." She told me about a few of the various aches that she was experiencing as a result. A little while later, I spoke to Mary Jo, who recounted similar issues due to the lactic build-up in her body after the run. Seriously? Why do people try to tell me that exercise is good? If running were so good for me, then God when have built natural treadmills all around this planet so we could act like gerbils. I ain't no gerbil.

At lunch, I went to see a venezuelan youth orchestra at the international bank of development in the americas with Mary Jo. It was nice to be able to get out of the office. Too bad the youth didn't bring any of their older brothers... I still love those latino men! I also enjoyed being able to get out of the office. The day trip gave me a chance to get to know Mary Jo a little bit better. It's always nice to get to know people on a more personal level, and she's such an interesting woman.

I decided to stay as late as it took to get the travel project completed. Effectively, the idea of the project is to analyze whether Grameen is getting its money's worth through their consolidated travel provider. Along with that, I was coming to understand the travel patterns of Grameen employees. A lot of interesting facts about the travel were found, and I feel that I was able to come to some conclusions. Now that the analysis is done, it will be nice to speak with Michael about what we do with that information -- already I have included some suggestions in the presentation.

At 8pm, I completed the presentation & walked to Union Station thinking about where my passions lie. There's simple things that I enjoy: strolls along a shoreline, sitting in the sunshine, reading books, and laughing with friends. I enjoy helping others realize their own goals. I like meeting people, so I can get to know more about their stories. I enjoy uncovering random facts. I naturally can be demanding, but have earnestly tried in recent years not to be. I still haven't identified what this means in terms of a passion.
