Between my non-profit assignment and my assignment as a Money Market Trader in October, I am excited about a number of new opportunities in my life.
(1) Starting Friday, I will join "Portfolio Control" to translate our client guidelines into systematic rules for our Institutional Group (e.g., the business that manages money for pension funds & endowments). While this may sound mind-numbering to some, it will give be a great opportunity to learn about the intricacies of investment guidelines that rule how we can invest on our client's behalf. Moreover, this mini-assignment will reconnect me with a team with whom I worked when I started 7 years ago.
(2) Then, in late September, I hope to take 2 weeks of vacation to volunteer with Grameen Foundation in India. The purpose of this volunteer trip will be to assist with the continued rollout of the PPI Software Data Tool. Notice: this is a volunteer trip, thus no performance reviews will be necessary on this occasion. ;) It will give me great pleasure to see this tool continued to gain footing in new institutions.
(3) Finally, in October I will return to work to begin my role as a money market trader in West Los Angeles. This is the role that I mentioned in a previous posting. In this role, I will be one of three people responsible for the daily trading/investing of the firms cash into short-term monetary instruments. This is an incredible opportunity that holds a lot of responsibility. I am both nervous and excited about this assignment. Nonetheless, because of my prior experience working with the Fixed Income Traders and Analysts, I am confident that I will be able to come up to speed quickly.
Obviously my late summer / early fall will be quite busy. But, for those of you who know me, this is exactly how I like to live!
