Getting back to the crib at 1am

No trip is complete without Alayne shaking her rump at a local club. Haiti was no different. This evening, Leah, Cabe, Saburah, and myself headed to Prescafe in Petonville (the nice part of Portoprens) for some live music. It was Haitian music... and if you don't know what that sounds like, it was described to me as a mix of salsa and rumba. Whatever that means. It was a great way to end a week in Haiti implementing software from the south to the center of the country. There continues to be so much that could be done, but fortunately, I am confident that the software application is in good hands.

Besides implementing software, this trip to Haiti permitted me the opportunity to escape from the protected grounds of American citizens to be among the populace. I loved it! It was exactly what I needed to feel like I was actually experiencing a bit of Haiti. Twice I had the opportunity to speak with men in Haiti about their concept of dating and love. The role they play in chosing whether or not to be faithful. The definition of jealously and how North Americans don't through the word "love" out there as quickly as their southern breathren. The best answer I got was to the question: "If you tell some girl that you love her the second day that you meet her, how will she knows that you actually mean it?" His response was: "You will know by what he does, what actions he takes." And when you think about it, even in the states you don't honestly know that you are loved until you see the actions the person takes. So, I suppose it's not that different here.

I wish I wasn't so tired, because then I could reflect on all of the cool experiences here in Haiti. But unfortunately, my bed calls.
