To my delight, I was able to go to the beach and watch my cousins play at the beach with Brett and his son Ryan. I attended an awards ceremony with the San Diego Urban League, and got to embarrass Cyenna (just a little) when she received a Golden Pyramid for scoring well on the California Scholastic Test. I went to happy hour with Sabrina... with whom who I never get a chance to talk. I hung out with Anya and giggled while watching Dhani on the Travel Channel and Janet Jackson on American Idol. I listened to Rudy share stories about a kid trying to stuff a cookie into his Cookie Monster t-shirt; and telling a grocery checker that all of the ice was needed for his profession as a kidney collector. (hehe!) I went to a bazaar at St Ritas and ran into Norlice (a woman I went to BOTH elementary school and high school with); whom the last time I saw was 15, and who now has a 15 year old daughter! I can't believe how quickly time passes. I got to know Samantha, the apartment manager on 49th street and discuss her gardening techniques. In between times, I soaked up some sun, did some reading, and some journaling.

And as I have been so lucky this year, all of these moments were peaceful. I could be demonstrative with my love and affection, and not feel ashamed of how I feel. I found myself feeling a sense of wonder, excitement, and content as I was surprised with the beauty of the world surrounding me. At the church bazaar it would have been called the holy spirit, while I was sipping on mead it would have been called being tipsy.
I just call it -- being home.
My only regret was not being able to see my homie House, whose health has been in my prayers. I sincerely hope that the test results show no issues and that he will soon recooperate and be back to his old self; bringing smiles to all of those who love him.In the meanwhile, I chalk up the first weekend of June a success of new happy memories!
P.S. Happy Birthday Chris!
